The bigger problem is the volume of social interactions that take place among kids by text/tweets/etc. via phones/tablets where there are no facial/body language cues to give feedback vs. in person, where there are, IMO. (Just like these tweets.)

The problems are intertwined - the developing mind hungers for social stimulation and Pixar 3D rendered faces are close enough to sate this need - more than sate it actually - hyperstimulus for reading emotions.
