I think it's a good point. But tbh, it seems likely that reality really is how its portrayed in the study. Isn't that a natural consequence of affirmative action in the education system?
I don't think so -- these are all people without four-year degrees, and being randomly assigned an associate's degree didn't even matter.
My overall sense of the situation is that higher ed + higher-level positions at big corps have affirmative action discriminating in favor of underrepresented minorities, while lower-skill jobs have discrimination against them.
Underrepresented is the wrong tern if you normalize for IQ. The more neutral term would be underperforming
The actual neutral terms would be redlined and defunded. You can increase your iq with tutoring if you have the incentives and means, which starts with well funded local schools and generational wealth.
How many poor white and Asian kids grew up with gunfire in the neighborhood and a father in prison?
If your saying neighborhood gunfire and a single-parent family lowers a persons iq, then this conversation has officially gone off the rails.
Environmental factors such as a nutritious diet, being read to as an infant and toddler, growing up in a loving, two-parent household, among other factors, contribute to IQ. We need to appreciate the effects of environmental factors on IQ. Redwoods don't grow tall in the desert.
A diet deficient in IQ boosting nutrients that also contains the right amount of nutrients to produce NFL and NBA players is quite a trick.
