#Medical #AI has the worst superpower... Racism
We've put out a preprint reporting concerning findings. AI can do something humans can't: recognise the self-reported race of patients on x-rays. This gives AI a path to produce health disparities.

It's almost as if race DOES exist. But of course we've been told over and over that that can't possibly be true. But didn't anybody tell Artificial Intelligence that? It's almost as if AI isn't a True Believer in the conventional wisdom about the scientific nonexistence of race.

Nobody ever said there are no observable differences between people on an individual level. However, these are minor variations of the human species and do not constitute different "races".

There are differences - I would not deny it. However, biologically, they are not large enough to split us into "races". And, yes, these differences can be meaningful in medicine: different enzymes, different sensitivities, ...
