It's interesting because it plays to a few Asian physical strengths - reaction time, hand eye coordination and hand movement precision. This is the closest physical sport to esports like SC2https://twitter.com/DKSportsbook/status/1420405080650620933 …

Interesting theory but disagree. All 3 of those are premier trait for FPS games as well, being reactive ones and reading the play ahead. SC2 and BW tend to be macro-focused, same as DotA etc. Very few top-tier azns were famous for micro, always macro. Play by numbers.

I only really follow SC2 as an esport but in it when Korean pros play top Euro pros the Korean players have a strong edge in micro which sometimes leads to early game mistakes - an early harassment attack will do more damage than expected b/c expectations are off.

I think this is inherently true of any aggressive early play to create forced errors, like most variations of all-ins or cheese play. I think the average KR pro is way better than the average EU pro due to depth of talent, independent of physicality. Who is the new Jaedong?

Similarly, who is the person trying to make Terran mech (traditionally micro-heavy) work at a high level?

My understanding is that mech play is something that Terran players use in some matchups but also that it's a fallback that's easier on the wrists / hands because it's less APM intensive - in SC2 anyway - and yes, it's seen more by non-Koreans when matched with Koreans.

Can't really say anything about BW play because there is no non-Korean pro scene in that game and there's barely even any casual play outside Korea. SC2 is a global game.

Should clarify I mean more generally, not specifically. Terran mech is a pocket strat because nobody is good enough (or game doesn't allow) to do what Jaedong did for midgame Zv_ back then - completely expand the boundaries of 'possible' through sheer execution.

Microing mutas is not about 300+apm and near-perfect macro economy play by numbers like Flash or Chinese DotA 06 by EHOME, it's about making the right decision 10/10 with the scalpel in the moment that you haven't practiced 10k times before. Compare to Counter Strike.
