During my phd I was amazed to discover there is a secret understanding of which papers are bullshit that you only learn about when getting drunk at post-conference dinners.

And anyway, do you trust airplanes because they’re made by scientists or because they don’t crash that often? It’s hard to tell what scientism’ers even claim is science: is it the officially credentialed (usu. negligible impact), all trial and error (meaningless), physics itself?
