Do you think this is because women are almost always worse at making decisions than men, or because a committee of two is almost always worse at making decisions than a single leader? Or both?

Neither. Women are only capable of maintaining love for men who lead them, as I think the argumentation of some of the commenters above demonstrates

Married 36 years. I’d say I generally lead, but my wife isn’t a child, she’s one of the most brilliant people I’ve ever known. She also has an unerring moral sense. To ignore that would make no sense. Marriage works best between two confident, competent adults.

Her wishes *and* her superior wisdom and understanding in fields of her expertise. Failing to recognize when she has the better vantage point on a given question would bespeak foolish ignorance/insecurity. Ideally his leadership will be hands off, as he trusts her judgement.
