The transition to "falling apart" style governance is not unrelated to the demographics issue. You're telling a stage 4 cancer patient to just be like how he was at stage 1, which might be a solution were it not for the material impossibility of it.

Of course it's not unrelated - how and how easily a place falls apart under bad governance are both influenced by demographics. SA has a smaller margin for error but Portland is still a disaster. Let progressives rule and they'll crash demographics anyway.
