I don’t entirely agree with this, but I reminds me of what @MaryVinnied has said before. Obergefell was a huge shift for everyone. It was a wonderful victory, one I remain grateful for. But it does seem like something happened. Like the floodgates fell open.https://twitter.com/herandrews/status/1410568955111030787 …

It did not help that the majority opinion was just a bunch of flowery nonsense. Even Gorsuch's crazy, "We can't legally define man or woman because civil rights," was a much more reasonable attempt to argue a legal framework for requiring gay marriage.

I forgot what the flowery nonsense was. It was the right decision in my opinion, and I felt like the majority of Americans did support it. But what happened? What led to that? Was it because it went through SCOTUS and not Congress?

The nonsense was, "Love is love and I like love and we all love to love so gay marriage is now legal." There really was no meaningful legal argument advanced (which is also why con orgs didn't even bother arguing against it). Gorsuch has been attempting to backfill a legal basis.

Okay, I buy that. Sort of. If a gay couple adopts a kid that kid deserves to have a married set of parents with all that implies. But is this framework?
