The problem with you wanting to tell people with guns what to do is that they have guns.https://twitter.com/mrs_lerner/status/1409224273282150402 …

It makes a nice quip but the reality is guns aren't weapons - coordination is the only weapon and she's using that weapon.

Yes. Sometimes i think that having the arms is actually the single-biggest contributor to the Rights complacency. There is no organized and acted fervor from the right. Put up small fight, then retreat to “well, as long as we get to keep our guns…”

The mainstream right has a series of triggers that are all inoffensive learned from from adverse conditioning against triggers that might be offensive. Being anti-vax? Sure, go ahead. Owning guns? Yup, go ahead. Using guns in self defense? WHOA, slow down.

If i understand correctly, you are talking about triggers that can’t be acted out to their fullest extent. In the vax example - you can simply not get vaccinated (not comply), and there really is no next step. In the gun example - yes, have guns, but taking the next step is…

Yes. The system sets up red lines that the right are so afraid to cross that they can't even think about them but sets up other things that are harmless that it barks at the right about (but never does anything).

Ok, i understand precisely now. Perfect experience i’ve had w/ this: Friend is militantly anti-mask, and anti-vax; But also wanted to debate me on why i didnt want to get lunch from an establishment flying ghey flag… “I dont care if ppl are ghey! And the owner likes football!”

Exactly - averse conditioning. He wants to rebel because he (rightly) sees the system as wanting to destroy him and producing more and more insane results but the real things that produce insane results that he'd have to rebel against are those that the system protects fiercely.

No one wants to see himself as impotent or a coward so he stops wanting to rebel in the really forbidden ways as long as he's allowed to rebel in the insignificant ways (and he gets yelled at a bit to affirm his self-image).
