Depends on whether we think about it in terms of fault or not. Leaving fault aside, the left structurally had to become crazier due to Trump because Trump was clearly the most pro-gay Republican president ever, for example. Trump hugs the rainbow flag=>we need a new, uglier flag.

Trump pushed left on criminal justice; the left has to push ever farther left to make pro-blackness a useful signal of values. Whose fault is this? I don't know, but it is predictable.

You're describing a dynamic that can't end until all of civilization is in ruins or the left is stopped. Anytime someone tries to come to an accommodation with what the left wants now, that merely signals that the left needs to demand more and more destructive things - forever.
