He's pro-crime (as are all progressives) but he's more pro-power-to-progressives than pro-crime and he thinks that right now it's better to trade off some crime to ensure that they retain more power.

It's so frustrating watching them try to pin the crime increse on something that they ideologically disagree with. Completely rationalizing the problem as something they haven't "fixed" yet.
