Actually stepping out of society for a man is instant death. Current society has a theme park version of stepping out of society where he retains the protection of the state and gets to hunt the members of society.

If a man declares "I do not respect other men's property rights, I do not respect the state's authority and choose to live by what I can enforce entirely on my own" and he's taken seriously his lifespan would be measured in days unless he becomes a hermit in the wilderness.
