Excellent summary (except the part of the conclusion - they're not motivated by money - they're really motivated by hatred and the urge for holiness) https://twitter.com/toad2022/status/1390745326986817536 …

Because they routinely cost themselves money and do things that show that they're not motivated to maximize the present value of the future income streams of the assets they manage. If they did then they'd manage them well.

Yes. Disney and Star Wars as the easiest example. Apple has been the least self-destructive brand and you can't even easily come up with examples of them pushing wokeness other than getting parler off the iTunes store.

Star Wars was still worth 4 billion dollars when Disney bought it. What do you think it's worth now? Certainly not that - if Disney bought BTC instead it would be sitting on massive amounts of money.

They still sell an awful lot of plastic kitsch and other shit. And they've got The Mandelorian, which people liked. I dunno how far that will go though.

People liked it and that angered the woke at Disney enough that they fired a popular actress and stomped on the idea of bringing back a heroic Luke Skywalker. Not money making ideas.
