Most people confuse "ought" with "is" and analyse real world from that "ought" worldview. Yeah, good academics ought to do what Minerva says but in reality they almost never do, so I don't know why what what academics should do go into the definition of "good academic".

That's not really confusing is and ought - it's an attempt to use deception as to what the ought is. What makes a good academic? She's trying to pretend that it has something to do with a search for truth when usage shows "gets grants and tenure" is the actual purpose.
