Makes perfect sense. That meme about iq graph is not a joke, people on either extremes of the bell curve have a lot more in common than they do with the middle. Its always been peasants and aristocrats against middle class villagers, the only solution is a king to sweep the board

My totally uneducated guess would be somewhat regional but also industry-specific areas that lean red for economic reasons, eg fracking
