a Take: the culture-war significance of gay stuff leads to it taking an unearned discourse primacy that makes it take up too much space in theological discussions as well

it is (to the orthodox) uncontroversial that gay sex is mortal sin it is similarly uncontroversial that masturbation, and any sex outside marriage, and any sex following a divorce are mortal sins the latter ensnare far more people, and are discussed far less

there is not enough focus on the fact that basically everyone is in a state of sexual mortal sin all the time talking a lot about gay sex is convenient, because it externalizes the problem to a small number of people specks, beams etc.

if Christians want to make a dent talking about sex, the first thing to address is the sins that now enjoy universal cultural sanction and are practiced by majorities of the population

If Christians want to make a dent talking about sex the problem with starting with "fornication" as the problem is that if a man doesn't engage in it it's impossible for him to ever marry. The problem is female sexual liberation. It's always easy to talk about how men are wrong

yes, modern Christians are far too quick to attribute everything to male bad behavior and dismiss female bad behavior entirely changing this would also be a necessary step along the way to becoming slightly relevant again

Actual Christianity has the answer for all of this but actual Christianity is often horrifying to the members of the Church of Jesus Nice
