I truly don't understand why people are dunking on this woman. She is the only person who I've heard accurately state the problem. If you want the highest number of people to get the shot, the time is right now to say "get the shot and go back to normal" and then it's over. https://twitter.com/JesseKellyDC/status/1377783039187636225 …

People are dunking on her because everyone *knows* that once they explicitly use the power "do this or you can't return to normal" they'll expand it. Personally I think it's an absurd grounds to fight on but the system has earned it's massive levels of distrust.

I think that's a very uncharitable interpretation of what she's saying. She's accurately stating that the Biden Admin has a narrow window to use "going back to normal" as incentive to get the vaccine before people just go back to normal. Which is true!

People are reacting with hostility to the idea of using "going back to normal" as a reward to be handed out because they instinctively know that it'll never be handed out - even if they want to. "We can't return to normal when black people are more likely to be arrested" etc.

Yes, it's an uncharitable interpretation of what she's saying but (1)that's how people are reading it (fairly or un) (2)we *all* know that slopes are slippery and it won't be fixed because *nothing* is ever "x follows from y" when there's a chance to create a manipulable process
