Men have newer brain software than women because all women have mated and uncooperative men got purged over and over again throughout the last 10k years. Men were selected for ability to cooperate; women still have sexual attraction triggers based on our species' earlier state.

Men were selected for *something*, but I doubt it was cooperativeness, exactly.

Most, if not all, violent crime is overwhelmingly male. Men have their virtues, but cooperativeness is not particularly one of them.

Initiative, risk-taking, possibly a more logical frame of mind due to being a little further along the autism spectrum, probably higher variability in IQ and other traits. Physical strength, visual-spatial skills.

How did selection pressure change 10k years ago? What is the *something* you alluded to above?

I'm mostly disagreeing with
@CovfefeAnon , so I'm not really locking myself down to a specific time period here. However, agriculture happened about 10K years ago, which apparently changed the M/F reproductive ratio from 2:1 to about 17:1.https://psmag.com/environment/17-to-1-reproductive-success …2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

The invention of agriculture allowed humans to accumulate wealth. This created a new niche: raider. Bands of highly cooperative men roamed from settlement to settlement killing the males, raping the females, and stealing the harvest

The comanche were perfectly capable of doing this without relying on agriculture for a living. It's possible that agriculture drove increased population density which necessitated more cooperativeness, but that would mostly work for both men and women.

It's not that the raiders relied on agriculture - it's that agriculturalists couldn't run from raiders because their wealth was fixed. Eventually raiders figure that they can make more profit by running the agricultural societies than raiding them and only raiding neighbors.
