So you think there's a profitable business to be created in selling $9k trucks and *no one* enters it because existing players would rather not undercut their own market in expensive trucks? Why? Out of courtesy to them? Impossible without external factors (regulation).

Yes, the dealership model is distortionary but the point remains - even if GM/Ford abstained from making cheap trucks to protect high margin trucks there simply must be an external (government) force blocking *other* entrants from serving this massive market. Amazon basic truck?

The fact that these trucks exist in China is disproof of that. It's worth it to invest capital to create the capital base to manufacture these trucks. There's no barrier to entry for truck making other than massive government protection left over from when UAW was Antifa.

50 year old "market failure" prog meme. Capital chases returns - that's what it does in every area... except in building trucks because competitors are so considerate of not eating GM's lunch. Weird coincidence that GM used to serve as a source of income for a prog vote bank.

Markets are perfectly efficient that's why the entire corporate apparatus has embraced Woke norms as one day a few years back everyone just spontaneously decided they loved PC and wanted to triple down.

Principal / agent problems are real - woke employees push for wokeness at the expense of the corp because they have backing from the rest of the woke who work in the state and academia and the press. Different case - what woke-like faction blocks cheap truck start-ups? None.
