The 1950s male view of women is closer to correct in consequence. It's not that she's too fragile and vulnerable to do real professional work - it's that she's got an out to pretend to be so and have people believe her and will always take that out if pressed Works out the samehttps://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1370181992998899714 …

Good thread. One slight disagreement is that I don't think Taylor in particular is too fragile or whatever but that she'll use the accusation because it's a useful weapon. Women have zero sense of restraint about using social weapons up to and including accusations of crimes.pic.twitter.com/mvZG6VdBBC

no disagreement at all actually. i conflated a bit but there are degrees of physical, psychological, and status fragility, which vary both of an individual and between different women. and the key is that they can arbitrage freely when it suits them

the most psychically hardened manipulator on the planet could still trade publicly on norms that evolved to protect coveted 16-year-olds, pregnant mothers, elderly widows, etc. women BELONG to their gender in a way that men cannot (and should not)

Women belong to their sex because no matter what happens to the tribe, the women are fine and will be dealing with each other for the rest of their lives. Men make war to take possession of the livestock and women so they make sure not to damage them.
