it was "stolen" but I'm not mad that it's unfair, I'm mad that my side is so incompetent

the fight was never fair, there was no reason to think it ever would be, and it was always a game of cunning.

Historically it's only a game of cunning while cunning men are shielded from brave men who will take their land and women and the machinations of cunning men weaken those defenses as part of the moves in the cunning game. Then the cycle repeats with the replacements.

Cunning and brave are not mutually exclusive.

No, they're not - but in the cunning game bravery is a liability so it comes to be dominated by men with none of it.

Not necessarily, I think Napoleon was both cunning and brave. He was a man that led from the front, but he was an excellent tactician. Perhaps a better way to distinguish it is status seekers vs status seizers.

The prior is a very feminine way of advancement, that is gossip, politics, popularity. The other is very masculine, simply going fuck it and taking control whether the rules truly allow it or not.

Both have their problems at extremes, you want cunning men to succeed to some extent otherwise you're gonna have dysgenics. However, it's like a normal distribution here, because too much cunning and you have dysgenics again. You need an ideal combination of brave and cunning.

I would wager that every single great man that started royal dynasties was a combination of brave and cunning. One doesn't create a long last dynasty being a coward, nor through dumb luck.

Agree on all of this - the leaders of the brave men are all cunning as well but they're not playing the cunning game - they're overturning the board and taking the pot by playing at a different level. They have to be cunning because the game is protected.

I, again, feel that modern military technology and tactics are not well integrated into these sorts of discussions. A man named is a risky piece (we all know this, and are anon).
