Also I am not advocating that one side just "surrenders". I am advocating that you fight the political battles within the system we have, instead of making moves towards overthrowing it.

Perhaps, but perhaps that's the wrong move. If you and I sat down to play poker and you noticed that the cards had funny patterns on the back and I kept winning, would it make sense to just keep playing within the system we have, or would you try to overthrow it?

My opinion on this was stated in the quoted tweet. I think overthrowing the democratic system we have is not only a bad idea, but one of the worst possible ideas. Just look at what historically has happened.https://twitter.com/jonatanpallesen/status/1349876226538811392?s=20 …

A large part of the population is extremely (and sometimes dangerously) misguided in various ways. Most societies throughout history have been incredibly awful. If what we have breaks down, we should therefore have low confidence that something better will follow. Preserve

If you think "the other side" doesn't always play fair, then man up and handle it, instead of wanting to break down our entire system. Potentially ushering in a dark age of dictatorship or mob rule because of your childish petulance.

The exact same argument applies to the Founding Fathers of the USA who should have just manned up and paid their taxes instead of starting a revolution and ushering in a dark age of mob rule and dictatorship in America. 🇬🇧

Only if you think that the current democratic system is no better than the autocratic royal rule. Where, for example, you had no personal rights if it ever conflicted with the desires of the king.

How many compulsory diversify trainings do we have to get sent to before we realize that King Charles the Third would be an improvement?

Range of outcomes in a democracy is much smaller than in autocracy, you tend to get mediocre results in democracy, in autocracy you might get LKW or you might get Pol Pot.

Sorry buddy but Pol Pot goes fully in the democracy basket. Where was he trained? Who supported him? If your system trains communist revolutionaries and gives them as much support as possible you don't get to assign that to some other system when they succeed.

TIL Pol Pot was in a democratic country called Democratic Kampuchea, and they actually held elections. 🤷‍♂️https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kampuchean_People%27s_Representative_Assembly …

Yeah, but they stopped voting when Pol Pot won so that doesn't count.

Uh well wikipedia says that they were to hold elections every 5 years, but DK didn't last 5 years, so I think it's fair to say that it was a democracy.

"Democracy" is not only about elections. Or if we wish to define it that way, then we can talk about "liberal democracy" or "real democracy" or something. It is a gliding scale, with various factors contributing, not only whether there are elections held or not.
