It’s fascinating to me to see people pull up tweets from Feb 2020 as a means to try and discredit people working in pandemic response. Our guidance evolves with the data and science, which is at a rapid pace during a pandemic of a novel disease. (1/3)

The CDC told us masks won't do any good. Not because that was true, but to prevent a run on masks. You can statistically calculate how many deniers and therefore, deaths, resulted from that one flip-flop.

You can track this back to govt decisions to downplay the severity of the pandemic, to prevent a panic. What cause do we have to trust the experts when keeping us misinformed was literally their job?

This goes way back to the beginning. How long did china keep the outbreak a secret? How long was the WHO telling us the new virus didn't pass between humans when they knew it did? You people were waffling about optics when drastic action was needed.

This is still cope. They didn't know how serious it was going to be and downplay it - they're just incapable of using reason. They didn't lie to protect medical supplies for hospitals - they just repeated their policy - which was no masks for no real reason.
