I'm still... STILL... really trying to meet people in the middle on social media regulation, but I feel like I can't get even the smallest concession out of them. I'm open to a wide variety of ideas and solutions, but half the people don't think there's even a problem.

I had a conversation with another tech friend today who recounted how someone he knew was fired for attending the Trump rally. Not storming the Capitol. Simply attending the rally. The rubber band is stretching, y'all. I'm trying to find ways to ease the tension.

And every time I start talking about easing the tension, finding compromise, looking for new ways forward in this uncharted digital realm, I get this pushback that implies that even recognizing that this is a problem makes me a crazy person.

No offense but wanting to ease the tensions now is functionally identical to wanting the left to succeed in their most insane, bloodthirsty ambitions because "easing tensions" without dealing them a defeat means they do the same things more stealthily. For now, they're mask off.
