It doesn't matter if you can legally own a gun if you can't legally defend yourself. Great, shoot a guy trying to kill you then lose your job, all your property and go to jail for life. The only thing owning a gun is doing for you in that scenario is letting you lie to yourself

Tell this guy it's a "fallacy" or a strawmanhttps://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/09/20/report-omaha-bar-owner-who-fatally-shot-protester-indicted-commits-suicide/ …

Of course anecdotes invalidate your point - that's how deterrence works - by anecdote. Make an example of every case of self defense and it doesn't matter if you own a gun - you'll hesitate.

A DA that won't charge you for defending yourself is one that won't charge you for defending yourself with an illegal gun. One that will is only looking for an excuse - he thinks it's easier to use the gun charge b/c it makes it less obvious but will charge you regardless.

Wish the best to you and yours as well - I'm just trying to point out how we really do live in a post-law society. These things always start with a few examples to get people accustomed to it then accelerate.
