Do a public experiment- have group of people drink only boiled water & have basic sanitation. You wouldn't need statistics to show that the number of diseases in course of a year dropped considerably among them.

You're badly failing your mental modeling of the thought process of intelligent people who don't have a concept of probabilistic reasoning. "Ah but that one guy in that group did get sick so it's not a necessary cause"
