In practice, the people running Iran are cautious, and less crazy than the US. Which admittedly isn't a very high bar. As for those that say that they must be aiming at apocalypse because the Koran tells them so - pish tosh.

It's manifestly obvious that the Iranians want nukes as deterrents to conventional attacks. So would I in their situation. Hell, that's why the *Israelis* have nukes. Why the pretense that the Iranians will nuke Tel Aviv ASAP? I'd be more worried about the Samson Option.

Because nukes with no delivery system aren't much of a deterrent.

Deterrence against the U.S. is also valuable. "In the *absence* of a nuke program, who would militarily attack Iran? And for what reason?" Many of us asked same thing about Iraq in 2003.

Suppose that Joe Biden really wants to do the right thing. When you consider how dumb he is, how feeble, how surrounded by ideological fruitcakes - how does he manage it?

This is a recurrent problem. If you trust the 'experts', say the intelligence community, you must believe that Russian click farmers are hundreds of times more effective as political consultants than James Carville ever was.

To be fair, political consultants frequently do seem to be providing 0 or negative value for their price.

      (R) ones, yes because they have a dual role - making sure the wrong (R)s don't win while keeping the candidate in the dark as to whether or not he's the wrong type of (R). (D) ones are in alignment with the candidate - both far to the left of the voters and conspiring together

Bob Shrum lost repeatedly for the Dems, yet remained highly sought-after (permitting him to continue losing). I'm sure Hillary spent far more on consultants than Trump did.
