My youngest boy 's explanation for the widespread myth about Russia twerking the 2016 election is that a lot of people had a felt need, they talked to each other on social media and amplified each other's fantasies (seeded and encouraged by politicians at the top).

Is the implication there that the people convinced there's no fraud are repeating that by ignoring evidence or is it that the people who are claiming fraud are repeating the error for the same reason - out of a need to believe? Seems like the former is what's going on to me.
