See? It's just this kind of rudeness and braggadocio that is ruining Roman politics. Why can't we have someone who wants to reform the Republic but isn't rude about it the way Caesar is?

The Republic was incapable of governing long before Caesar crossed the Rubicon Their inability to govern combined with Caesar's popularity and skill made them act rashly to force his hand thinking that by raising the stakes they would ensure an end to their crisis of legitimacy
