Although we routinely describe wokeness as a religion, it lacks one thing religions usually offer: transcendence. There are no true experiences of holiness in wokeness, no experience of the numinous. There's also no mystery.

I’m not convinced. Everything about wokeness seems flat & uninspiring. That may be a major factor in the purity spirals we see, that quest for a kind of experience that never materialises.

The flatness has to do with wokeness as a religion where transcendence has a horizontal rather than a vertical character. It attempts to turn difference into virtue rather than holiness or excellence. They believe if there were no oppression, all differences would be respected.
