All kinds of ancestral environments; men are complex because men have massively varying roles. Some live in cities and produce wealth through trade and there's plenty of time for that to produce behavioral changes. Others lived in rougher environments.

You only need one event where tribe A men wipe out tribes B, C, D, E, F, G, H, etc. men - don't need to have repeat events to filter out the Y chromosomes.

The historic example we have where contemporary observers keeping good records was the conquest of the Aztecs - agricultural, up the hierarchy more wives for the ranking men. At the same time, this was driven by conquest - there were corresponding dead men (often sacrificed)
