Jim makes a great point about what can be hoped for from the courts - courts do not issue orders that they expect to be ignored. They have to expect enforcement or they won't intervene. This goes to the heart of the disagreement between his wing of NRx and what Yarvin has said.

Yarvin describes the Cathedral as having no external influences but that isn't really true - just that as a member of that class - like the rest of that class he would prefer to not see the threat of leftist violence - damages the self-image.

Courts understand the important Schelling point of their orders being followed and are not willing to issue orders that won't be. They don't have the confidence of men who issue orders to soldiers.

NB, this is before Yarvin's latest which I haven't yet read but bits I've seen are quite ... Straussian.

This thread was more in response to Yarvin's Gray Mirror piece about the structure of USG - I've now read his post-election piece and might have other things to say about that later.

Jim has been extremely accurate in his recent prognostications. Empirically, provably. Moldbug theorizes in purple prose. Interesting, but not verifiable or practical.
