A badly executed suppression of public disorder in a society traumatized by the insanity of Cultural Revolution. Or is there something else you want me to say about it?

... Point is, of course China has controls on public expression, and if I was Baizuo I'd probably be irritated by them, but they don't interfere with right-wing thoughts about Western societies.

the relaxing of selective pressures on memeplexes doesn't bother you?

Those aren't memeplexes - they're pledges of coordination. Another case of the woke being right - some speech really is action. "I believe Black lives matter" isn't a statement, it's a pledge to a cause

a system of pledges of coordination still requires a material form to have any effect - ergo, it is yet a memeplex meaning is causal, memeplexes are the material form "speech is action" is a doctrine of many, many philosophies, traditions, ontologies, etc before

based on your quote tweet, I sense you are assuming an ontology of language which, tbh, I believe completely impotent for actually explaining language language is causal, we'd literally not use it unless it were if you deny the causal element, then no wonder you think you can-

abstract away "pledges of coordination" from speech as such; but speech is always some such revelation, a move in a game, you cannot abstract away the causal element and have speech as such, and you will be unable to explain why or how speech developed

back to my initial point re: selective pressure on memeplexes, the Chinese system is fragile whereas the Western system more anti-fragile, so the Western system is preferable even if you might otherwise have a short term relief from adversive elements - hi time preferences

The Chinese system looks a lot more secure to me than the Western one. The Western one is vulnerable to attack from its left against which it cannot cohere to fight off without the greatest difficulty while the Chinese system can.
