Stalin stopped the USSR from going the way of Cambodia. Churchill destroyed his own country rather than accept peace. Mao was a murderous lunatic but his worst crimes were when he had to unleash uncontrollable forces to survive. Reasonable case for Churchill or Mao.
If you have a communist revolution you don't get out of it without at least 5% of the population dead, yes. In that case getting a Stalin is a blessing. Don't lose to communists.

I doubt Castro, for all his flaws, killed 5% of the population. Did Josip Tito? Did the communists in Laos, or even Vietnam? (200k starved or executed is not a small number, but it's not 5% of ~40 million people.)
