“Cost us weeks” is a revisionist media narrative. In reality, Trump’s biggest mistake was listening to Fauci & Redfield back in January & February, as they botched development of a PCR test. By March 1, NYC was already seeded. It was fait accompli.

You're strawmanning--building up a modest claim into the most extreme possible claim because that's the easier one to rebut. It can both be true that some cases were inevitable, and that better, more comprehensive pandemic control would have resulted in fewer cases, saving lives
