The slight COVID risk of having everyone vote in person seems far less than the civil war risk of having lots of people vote by mail causing both tribes to think they won the election because harder to stop fraud, perhaps committed by foreign powers.

Yeah, but one side really wants to commit vote fraud - in fact they base a significant portion of their electoral strategy around the idea. If you'll ignore laws around looting and destruction of property in service of an imagined greater good, what's vote fraud in comparison?

Correct: Trump and the Republicans have called on their supporters to vote twice. So, in addition to *really* wanting to suppress voting, they *really* want to commit vote fraud.

Trump demonstrated what's called a "reductio ad abusurdum" If voting my mail is secure and doesn't allow double voting Then you should go to the polls after having voted by mail Because you will be stopped The left's reaction to the demonstration proves the first part false.

No, it doesn’t. It just means they don’t want a President who normalises and makes light of voting fraud. Nice try, though!

"How dare he make fun of our pious arguments that we are denying doing what we are plainly doing - that breaks norms!" There's no way you can argue what he said condones fraud unless you accept that voting by mail is an open invitation to fraud.

Sigh. Explicitly saying things like “vote twice” and “I want to serve a third term” undermines democracy. That’s why people are “complaining”. His supporters wouldn’t be able to commit fraud — as all the evidence shows — but norms should be upheld, not made light of. The end.

It may be difficult for your small brain to comprehend this, because you’re trapped in your little reactionary bubble. I understand that. But at least make some effort, for heaven’s sake.

You can't even understand the simplest points like how Trump was demonstrating the absurdity of your own position - that small brain bit is pure projection.

My position is that Trump should not “demonstrate the absurdity” of a strawman that you’ve propped up by saying “vote twice”.

You don't know what the term "strawman" refers to, do you? What is the supposed fake argument that Trump is refuting? Who is he attributing this argument to?

"How dare he make fun of our pious arguments that we are denying doing what we are plainly doing - that breaks norms!” includes the fake argument that “we are denying doing what we are plainly doing”.

That's mockery, not a strawman. Also happens to be an accurate restatement of your statement.
