Trump tells all sorts of small lies but nothing compares to the misrepresentation of reality libs are responsible for. This is seriously the line MSM is going with too: that all the pain of the lockdowns comes from Trump's mishandling -- ignoring the rest of the West is the same.https://twitter.com/JoeBiden/status/1306763872020422656 …

None of them can answer the simple follow up question of "what should he have done?" with anything other than "believed science" or some other absurd platitude. His actual position was to close off travel from China and they howled. They opposed any actual effective action.

"When you do testing to that extent, you're going to find more people, you're going to find more cases. So I said to my people, 'Slow the testing down, please'" (https://youtu.be/baHR5E952H8?t=12 …) seems both bad (you can't make people less sick by not testing!) and distinctly Trump-like.

The reality is that that has near zero effect vs FDA declaring that only CDC could make a test then CDC delaying *then* CDC screwing up the tests - all while blocking testing by threatening anyone giving non-CDC tests. The critical period where testing could do good was then.

I agree that the FDA/CDC failures were worse https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/h4vWsBBjASgiQ2pn6/credibility-of-the-cdc-on-sars-cov-2 …

That's a early good run-down but it's not just that the FDA / CDC failures were worse - those failures and the larger failure of being so ideologically opposed to the very idea of closing a border ever for any reason - it's that those failures mattered.
