I don't think it's so much plastic as opportunistic and constantly pressing. To put it another way - prison homosexuality isn't that different from non-prison homosexuality - if a man is invisible to women he's in a virtual all male environment.

Yes; it's a natural instinct for women and girls to get as much attention as possible but that doesn't lead to the best life outcomes. "Sexualization of youth" though... that implies that it's being imposed on them - it's not and that's the whole problem.
