Don't mistake the person in the picture for the target of the advice. Plenty of people out there would benefit from squatting (literally everyone) but don't have the hip and ankle mobility and need a path to getting there.
That path is very suboptimal, even for people with genuinely reduced mobility, who are much rarer than Squat University and its retarded clones want us to believe.
The actual stumbling block is lack of strength and confidence. That's where increasingly deeper box squats come in.
I like to build a tower of 5 kg bumpers, have my trainee do a few reps and then take one or two plates away. Two sessions are usually enough to have them squatting to or below parallel with the correct torso angle, foot placement and hip drive.
