All this reminds me of Moldbug's old article on atheists believing in religion. I wonder if there is a similar effect on this type of thought, that state violence even if marginal compared to individual violence is still worse because the state did it. Power can manifest...

Every crime George Floyd committed was state violence because the state chose to not prevent it when they knew he would keep on doing it. Exact same logic as states looking the other way on lynching except one is the execution of criminals and the other is crime and disorder.
