Yep: "people with felony convictions account for 8 % of all adults and 33 % of the African American adult male population."https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5996985/ …

Yep and most felonies are non violent drug crimes. Like Marijuana possession when whites use the same amount but blacks are arrested at more than double the rate.https://norml.org/marijuana/fact-sheets/racial-disparity-in-marijuana-arrests/ …

1. According to surveys, blacks use more 2. According to urine test studies, blacks lie about use more (real number greater than reported) 3. Blacks use/deal in public more often than whites I find the "blacks are arrested more for MJ despite similar usage" narrative tendentious

https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/fssc00.pdf … Hint: a simple search will usually pick out the sources if you include some quotes. But I already knew that most felonies were _not_ drug offenses, already knew roughly how common they were. Which is why I could never be a pundit.

People are arrested for it and receive a mark on their record. Which stops you from finding employment https://www.drugpolicy.org/do-people-still-get-arrested-and-punished-using-marijuana …

This idea is completely disconnected from reality. Blacks are so disproportionally criminal that any place hiring lots of blacks knows it's getting a lot guys who have been in the joint for one reason or another. Markets don't just ignore labor.

The disconnect is that yes, these guys are never getting jobs in air conditioned offices where they'll manipulate spreadsheets - but that wasn't happening before they caught a drug charge either.
