Technological advancement masking social decline - burning off the accumulated genetic capital of centuries at the rate of about 1 IQ point per generation (never mind the increasing % of world pop of low IQ populations); everything looks great until the day it doesn't.
Depression and nihilism are spiritual problems. A men who hasn't developed skills that are useful to other men ("useful" meaning "something other men will pay him for") is going to be very fundamentally uneasy. "Economically insecure" describes that but misses the point
I can't imagine seeing the opioid crisis as anything but spiritual. To be fair to your position a dimension of the spiritual despair is from USG having intentionally made it difficult / expensive to employ Amerikaners combined with imposed changes to the mating market 1/2
Making it expensive / impossible to employ men while throwing money at women's jobs and outlawing actual marriage will induce despair. The point though is that the economic devastation is downstream of the left's hatred for seeing manufacturing exist. 2/2
