If you read through the clauses of the Magna Carta it's all about procedure and property rights. "The King cannot arbitrarily take your shit", "Jewish moneylenders cannot collect debts from the children of deceased debtors", "You have a right to a fair trial", etc.

If the king takes too much power away from his high ranking vassals he distributes that power to his bureaucrats, who then rule unaccountably but in the King's name - this is very very familiar to subjects of the state that grew out of this after it disposed of the King
