A serious question. Doesnt IQ depend on people taking the test bothering to try? I'm becoming more skeptical that IQ as a scale, rather than rough rank, has much validity across cultures. A view I've changed in the last year.

C'mon, this is a joke response. The predictive validity is there - every indicator lines up; job performance, credit ratings, criminality, income (even with all the boosts hidden and open), academic performance (same), brain volume, etc. "Oh, they just don't try on IQ tests"

Higher criminality a marker of group cognitive deficits? Men broadly must be way stupider than women them. The male/female crime gap is the overwhelming one. My Scottish ancestors used to be violent (the residue seen in high Southern white crime rates).

Obviously men and women have different baselines for criminality but within men and women it's predictive. You're grasping at straws.
