They're not, but they're correct in this case.

Because they know what happened: "At about 10:51 (local time) on 29 July, an electrical power surge in Phantom No. 110 occurred during the switch from external to internal power. The electrical surge caused one of the four 5-inch Mk-32 Zuni unguided rockets in a pod on external

McCain graduated in the bottom 1% of his class. He crashed planes. Captured, he made propaganda broadcasts. In the Senate, he supported obviously stupid policies. Nobody's perfect.

Right... those are actual things. Causing 132 deaths on his ship (which is a constant talking point of many Trump supporters) is fake. But people are easily manipulated and gullible. They see it in a facebook post, they regurgitate it, now people are saying it everywhere as fact.

On the other hand, I know of an example or two in which the official report is a lie. Military commissions are usually pretty competent, but they will produce a cooked result if ordered to do so.

Right, there are examples where they have lied. But there is absolutely no reason to believe this is one of those instances. The only 'evidence' to support it is a random person saying it. Problem is that random person's slander got spread, now it bears weight in people's minds.

The fact that his father was the CINCPAC is a *huge* reason to believe this is one of those instances but obviously there's not going to be definitive proof. The rest of his track record of incompetence and narcissistic destruction is more "reason to believe".

No, that is not a reason to believe McCain did it. Had there been any credible evidence suggesting he did it, then you could argue his father covered it up. But so far there has been zero evidence pointing to McCain having anything to do with it.

That's *a* reason to believe that a cover up was possible or even likely.
