You're entirely right that this points to a massive, horrifically destructive flaw in having a system that governs based on how well each ideology "sells"

"Better public education" - this is a joke right? Public education will of course teach exactly the ideologies that sell to people who set the agenda in public education. Columbia's Teacher's College is a good place to start your search.

Yes! "Public school funding" is a perfect example. It increases every year and yet somehow there's this idea in the "intellectual marketplace" that funding has always been cut; pure mass delusion. https://www2.ed.gov/about/overview/fed/10facts/edlite-chart.html#2 …pic.twitter.com/YMzQMloaFA

Perfect! You're playing the part of a deranged lunatic very well! We should spend an ever increasing percentage of GDP on everything good until 900% of GDP goes to Good Things. Why this is needed? Who knows, but this insane sentiment wins in the "marketplace of ideas"!

Yes, but the things you know aren't so. THE BUDGETS GROW EVERY YEAR; nothing is being "cut" but the idea that won out in the "marketplace of ideas" is that the problem is lack of money therefore any failure is simply proof of lack of money. Pure circular reasoning.pic.twitter.com/t0aGD2YZkX

"As a percentage of GDP" Explain why that matters; explain why you were so convinced that it was falling in absolute terms when it wasn't. Your brain is in the grip of such a powerful delusion that you immediately shift your thoughts when your premises are disproven.

Now you're asking interesting questions. Why does the system function worse and worse with more and more money?
