The beauty of having an King (or an Emperor) is that his legitimacy doesn't rest on ever-present increasingly hysterical thought control apparatus. Bonus if he is descended from a line with centuries of experience in sane, high quality governance.https://twitter.com/EduardHabsburg/status/1276238756920639498 …

This might be out of nowhere — I'm a newfag, but why wouldn't a king be as bothersome as Hitler and Stalin and the failed regimes of the 20-century? I recognize that monarchies were less brutal compare to the 20-century dictatorships, why was that?

It's an excellent question to ask. The very abbreviated answer is that the pressures under which a leader who came to power by getting gaining the leadership of a popular movement are very different than the pressures that a king is under. 1/2

Stalin has no particular claim on power so is highly vulnerable to anyone more purely left wing than him; the result is both that Stalin has to ruthlessly purge his rivals as well satiate the bloodlust of his followers by murdering many of the hated kulaks 2/2
