Have you ever noticed that with the passage of the decades, that archenemies William F. Buckley and Gore Vidal are slowly blurring together into one figure? I turned to an old interview of Vidal recently and it took me awhile to figure out he wasn't Buckley. Like a Borges story

Huge power in being able to pick out who is going to be the opposing force. The right forms a team and looks to a leader; very powerful to hijack this with an alternative that barely disagrees with the other side.
