The quokka is a meme animal that lives on Bald Island on the SW coast of Australia, where it has no natural predators. If you visit this island, it will fearlessly walk up and try to hug you. Why am I telling you this? Because the eye of Sauron has fallen on the rationalistspic.twitter.com/8nBZ4i2By0

It's funny... I actually relate to this, very strongly, up to a very specific point, and then it disappears for me. I'm a rationalist Qokka, because I'm a giant, strong person, who can fight and use weapons. Lions aren't afraid to come up and give you a hug either ;p

OK but the modal rationalist is not a lion

Every human is more dangerous than a lion.

This is totally wrong-headed. Men have to work to be more dangerous than a lion and without pressure from lions will not put in that work. Rationalists go further and are men who put in work to destroy the things that would make their band stronger than a lion. Aella senses itpic.twitter.com/xz2HQiiZiA

A band of men with asabiyyah is stronger than a lion. A polycule is not. Only a very rare man is.

Every non obese man with tools and a brain can kill a pack of lions. Even some obese men ;p Lionkillers make friends and rarely have to travel alone.

Being non-obese is beyond many men's ability today because they give in to short term urges and can't stick with the discipline needed to keep up a lifting program. Those same flaws would show themselves in lion hunting. 1/2

Other reply - having the tools and the training to use it is only possible because the modern world automated the "having friends" part of human interaction. You don't have to befriend the rifle maker, merely participate in automatic favor tracking called the economy 2/2

Those are not men. They are also not rationalist. I guess that's where I break with the metaphor. Rationalists, for their many flaws, still tend to be stoics. Stoic, rational men, will rise to prominence again as they always tend to. This moment is waves breaking on the shore.
