I've known a lot of this stuff rationally for a while. But this month is what really made me absorb it viscerally.

The last few months have exposed the hollowness to all of it. There are no serious men running things with an eye on the health of the institutions they run - just worthless Boomers and totally unguided younger people. Our cultural tradition seemingly stopped with television

Television killed the passing on of institutional culture. People everywhere "learned" how things in a profession worked not from learning from older professionals but from how the profession was portrayed - it was a super-stimulus for soaking up culture.
